After a historic meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, President Donald Trump told Fox News host Sean Hannity that he “felt foolish” using such harsh rhetoric when speaking about the dictator.

After rehashing some of the remarks Trump made, such as calling Kim Jong Un “little rocket man,” and “my button is bigger,” Hannity asked, “How did it evolve from that to this, because he did say at the very beginning, we’re going to basically start over and that has been building behind the scenes?” (RELATED: ‘Spasm Of A Lunatic’: Kim Jong Un Fires Back After Trump’s Nuclear Button Tweet)
Trump bluntly replied, “Well, I think without the rhetoric, we wouldn’t have been here.”
The president continued by taking subtle jabs at nameless prior administrations, stating, “other administrations … had a policy of silence. If they said something very bad, very threatening and horrible, just don’t answer. That’s not the answer. Trump said he didn’t like using the harsh rhetoric, telling Hannity, “I hated to do it. Sometimes I felt foolish doing it, but we had no choice.”
