President Donald Trump celebrated FIFA’s decision to award the U.S., Canada, and Mexico the 2026 World Cup in a Wednesday tweet.

The awarding comes as the U.S. is engaged in an ongoing trade spat with Canada and Mexico led by the president who has long believed that both countries are taking advantage of the U.S.

Nonetheless, Trump has touted the U.S. bid for the World Cup in the past even going so far as to threaten other countries not to oppose his bid.

The 2026 World Cup will occur in 16 cities across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico with 10 of those cities inside the U.S. The final match will be held at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey.
