“Pawn Stars” Rick Harrison explained why “socialism doesn’t work” and capitalism, in the end, works in such a way that “we all have a better life because of it.”

“You know, it’s survival of the fittest. And in the end, we all have a better life because of it,” the 53-year-old reality TV star shared Sunday night during his appearance on “Life, Liberty & Levin” on Fox News with host Mark Levin. The comments came after the host asked the reality star if he agreed that a “capitalistic economy” is a vibrant one.

Harrison then gave an example of the success of the free market by pointing out how in 1850 the watch-making capital was London. At the same time, he shared, the precision machine tools used to make those pocket watches became a lot less expensive. Soon, little shops started popping up all over America, and due to “massive bureaucracy” and unions in Europe, America was able to pass them by.

“By 1890, the best watches in the world, hands down, were American watches … That’s because in London, it took 17 different unions to make a watch. They called them guilds,” he continued. “It was just massive bureaucracy.”

“That’s just one example of capitalism,” the reality star explained. “There are a million examples out there. Socialism doesn’t work. Big government doesn’t work.”
