Former White House aide and reality TV star Omarosa Manigault Newman released a tape of her conversation with President Donald Trump showing him unaware of her firing.

The tape reveals Trump aghast that Omarosa was fired by White House Chief of Staff John Kelly. Omarosa, however, appeared on NBCNews’ “Meet The Press” Sunday and claimed that Trump knew that she was being fired in December 2017.

Omarosa has selectively released some tapes of her conversations with other White House officials from her time as an employee, including her firing, which took in the White House Situation Room. The recording inside the situation room is seen as a significant breach of protocol.

The tape release coincides with the release of a new book by Omarosa regarding her time in the White House.

“Are you convinced he did not know at that minute that you were being fired?,” Chuck Todd asked Omarosa of Trump’s alleged foreknowledge.

OMAROSA MANIGAULT NEWMAN:

No, I know he knows.

CHUCK TODD:

OK.

OMAROSA MANIGAULT NEWMAN:

Because I’ve talked to him subsequently, and he said he delegated. “I delegated.” So he knew. He knew that John Kelly was going to take me into the Situation Room, and lock me in there, threaten me, and say that things were going to get ugly for me, and there would be damage to my reputation.
