Federal investigators are now looking for other potentially live grenades allegedly sold by a North Carolina antique mall after one caused the death of a Virginia teen.
The explosion that killed the teen happened on Dec. 23. Now investigators with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) are trying to find out if more of these live grenades were sold at a North Carolina antique shop, according to ABC11. Fancy Flea Market Antique Mall in Shallotte, North Carolina, is reportedly where the grenade was sold back in June. The vendor was unaware that the grenade being sold was still dangerous and able to detonate. The ATF is uncertain how many others exist or who has purchased them, according to ABC11.

The World War II MK2-style grenades were thought to be “inert” and neither the vendor nor the buyer thought they were functioning or dangerous, according to the ATF.
The ATF has asked anyone who may have more information on the locations of the grenades or if anyone has purchased one, to contact their Charlotte field office.
