“Justice League” director Zach Snyder released two new images of Jared Leto as the Joker in his cut of the film that comes out in March on HBO Max.
Snyder shared photos of Leto for his film with Vanity Fair in piece published Tuesday and explained how the Joker’s character was not part of his original plan when he came up with the movie before walking away from the project in 2017 due to family tragedy. One of the black-and-white images shared with the outlet can be seen below and show Leto donning white face paint with dark makeup around his eyes and mouth.

He’s also wearing what appeared to a hospital gown in one shot of him sitting alone in an empty room. In one snap that was not provided, the Joker is reportedly wearing a surgical mask. The director shared with the outlet the attire is most likely a remnant of his “escape into the wild when the world fell.”
(Spoiler) The piece goes on to share the Joker will appear as a sort of Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come to Bruce Wayne in a vision as a warning about what could happen.
“The cool thing about the scene is that it’s Joker talking directly to Batman about Batman,” Snyder shared. “It’s Joker analyzing Batman about who he is and what he is. That’s the thing I also felt like fans deserved from the DC Universe.”
“That is to say, the Jared Leto Joker and the Ben Affleck Batman, they never really got together,” he added. “It seemed uncool to me that we would make it all the way through this incarnation of Batman and Joker without seeing them come together.”
Snyder’s cut of “Justice League” will debut March 18th on HBO Max in four hour-long parts.
