An unidentified protester slapped French President Emmanuel Macron during a Tuesday tour of La Drome in southeast France.
Macron had planned to visit with restaurant owners in the area ahead of plans to ease COVID-19 restrictions, and as he greeted the crowd, one man reached over the barrier and slapped him, according to CNN. (RELATED: France Fires A Warning Shot To America Over Woke Leftism And Identity Politics)

Macron approached the crowd and began to greet them, shaking hands with one man who then shouted, “Down with Macron!” and slapped the president across the left side of his face. Macron’s security detail quickly pulled him away from the metal fence, and two arrests were reportedly made.
The Elysee released a statement following the incident: “A man indeed tried to hit the President of the Republic. We have no further comments at this point. Exchanges with the crowd and handshakes resumed. The trip continues.”
