Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin has inked a new deal with the franchise.

Ovi announced Tuesday afternoon that he’s agreed to a new deal with the Caps, and the terms are pretty great for the Russian-born sensation. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

According to a statement from the team, Ovechkin’s new deal is for five years and averages out to an annual salary of $9.5 million.

So, Ovi is getting at least one more huge contract before eventually hanging up his skates.

It’s not a bad day to be Ovechkin, that much is for sure. Whenever you wake up and sign a deal worth $47.5 million, you know you’re in for a great afternoon.

Something tells me that Ovi has plenty of champagne on ice ready to celebrate!

Also, there’s no way the Caps are letting Ovechkin end up on a different team. He’s the most famous player in franchise history and he led them to the Stanley Cup.

He’s a living legend in D.C., and you never let guys like that walk.

Don’t spend it all in one place, Ovi! Save your money!
