Oprah Winfrey revealed she had double knee surgery in 2021 during her “The Life You Want” class.

The episode centered around a discussion about gratitude. Winfrey expressed feeling connected to one particular guest, who stated she was grateful for every organ and every limb, according to People. Winfrey then shared her personal story — something she has kept secret from fans for a whole year. “I had knee surgery in August, and then I had another knee surgery in November,” Winfrey said. “When I came home the first time, I literally could not lift my leg. I couldn’t lift my heel off of the bed,” said the 68-year-old star.

Winfrey told fans that she was feeling grateful and humbled after battling back from knee surgery. “I vowed if I was ever able to get up, walk around, and move again — that I would take advantage of movement, exercise, and of being able to be fully in my body,” Winfrey said, according to People.

She went on to discuss the importance of being physically strong and spoke to fans about hard she is working to better her overall health.

“My appreciation for every organ and every limb has expanded exponentially,” Oprah Winfrey said, according to People. (RELATED: Chicago Bulls’ Lonzo Ball To Undergo Knee Surgery)
