Eighty-year-old Harrison Ford is stepping into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for the very first time by taking on the longtime role of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.
The legendary actor can officially add “MCU” to his already impressive filmography as he joins Marvel’s “Captain America: New World Order,” according to Variety. Ford has previously appeared in “Star Wars,” “Indiana Jones,” and a series of Jack Ryan movies and continues to remain immersed in his work. Ford is also starring in the fifth “Indiana Jones,” which is poised for a June 2023 release, according to Variety.

Ford’s role in the fourth “Captain America” movie will be written by its creator, Malcolm Spellman, who is also credited for writing the screenplay for “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.” The film will be directed by Julius Onah, and the movie will follow the 2021 Disney+ series, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” according to Variety. Other actors from “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” will reprise their roles and appear alongside Ford as he enters the MCU.
Danny Ramirez will return as Joaquín Torres, Carl Lumbly will return as Isaiah Bradley, and Shira Hass takes on the role of Ruth Bat-Seraph (Sabra), according to Variety.
Ford will star opposite Anthony Mackie, who will reprise his role as Sam Wilson. Tim Blake Nelson will also be starring in the film, according to Deadline.
Ford has not directly commented on this new project and at this time he is not set to appear in “Thunderbolts,” which is the next film that’s slotted for release immediately after “Captain America 4” takes the world by storm, according to Variety.
