The Texan Woodway Public Safety Department (PSD) put a woman in custody Wednesday after she allegedly forced a child to drink toilet water, ABC 25 reported.

The woman, Claudia Velediaz-Bonifazi, was charged by the department with Injury to a Child with Intent to Cause Bodily Harm, the outlet noted. (RELATED: Mommy Vlogger Ruby Franke’s Abuse Diaries Released)

This particular charge is considered a serious felony in Texan law and can carry a sentence of between five years to life in jail, according to the Law Offices of Richard C. McConathy.

Police opened an investigation into the matter after the child who was allegedly subject to the act informed school officials, the outlet reported. The child told school staff and a counselor that he was allegedly dragged into a bathroom by his hair by the suspect, had his head forced into the toilet and was forced to drink toilet water, ABC 25 noted.

Police noted that the child was missing pieces of hair, the outlet reported. Authorities claim that their investigation reveals an alleged pattern of disturbing behavior, ABC 25 reported. The same child had allegedly been repeatedly punched, hit by an assortment of objects and was denied food for a long period of time when under the care of the suspect, the outlet noted.

The child has been placed under the care of a relative for his own safety since the alleged incident, according to the police, 6 News noted.
