File this under “New Drug to Vilify.” For the last few years, it’s been salvia. Now authorities are taking aim at a “fake marijuana” product being sold at head shops, mostly in the Midwest, called K2 and Spice. Kansas and Missouri already have bills to ban the mystery substance.
K2Sold in gram packets for $10-20, K2 is said to mimic marijuana’s effects. It’s also sold under the names Spice, Genie, Skunk, Spice Diamond, Spice Gold, Spice Silver, Yucatan Fire and Zohai.
The ingredients include Baybean, Blue Lotus, Lion’s Tail, Lousewort, Indian Warrior, Dwarf Scullcap, Maconha Brava, Pink Lotus, Marshmallow, Red Clover, Rose, Siberian Motherwort, Vanilla, Canavalia Rosea, Clematis Vitalba, Nelumbo Nucifera and Pedicularis Grandifolia. People smoke it in joints, pipes, bongs and vaporizers, just like marijuana.
