Boston Police and fire units have recovered a body from Boston Harbor this morning.

Fire Department spokesman Steve MacDonald said the gender of the victim is not known and the bad weather hampered recovery efforts.

MacDonald said a report of body floating in the water near Rowes Wharf was called in shortly after 9 a.m this morning.

Police and Boston fire boats responded along with a Massport fire boat.

“The body was drifting for awhile from the Northern Avenue bridge toward the Moakley Bridge,The recovery was finally made by the Congress Street bridge about 10 a.m.,” said MacDonald. “It look like the body had been in the water for awhile.”
