You’d think an actor could pull off improv. That didn’t seem to be the case with “Collateral” star Richard T. Jones, who recently delivered the commencement address for the University of Maryland. In between pregnant pauses, the celebrity gave an incoherent speech and repeatedly mentioned that he was unscripted and improvising. Jones said everything he’d planned to say had been covered by other speakers.

“I had this great speech ready for you guys, then they put me behind a bunch of doctors…An actor behind a bunch of doctors. [They] said everything I was going to say. So I figure I’ll just keep talking until I say something,” Jones said. “It is my duty here to encourage you…to focus on lifelong learning and I had such great analogies, I was going to tell you about, I had such great quotes. Every one was used already. So this is going to be good. I’m glad I looked up a word called improv because that’s what’s going to happen here.”
