UK Surfers Andrew Flounders and Mathew Stanley were catching waves off of England’s northeast coast recently when they were joined by a real pro.
A video shot by Stanley and uploaded to YouTube Monday shows a little baby seal joining the outing, including commandeering a few boards and waves of his own.
“Me and my friend Andrew Flounders were out enjoying some summer waves when this little guy came along and scared the hell out of Andy because we didn’t know what it was!” one of the surfers said in the video’s description. “It nudged his foot from underneath.”
The group was off Amble in Northumberland, according to the BBC, and spent an hour with the friendly little “pup” before heading back to shore, where he followed.

Before leaving, Flounders called a local marine wildlife authority to make sure the seal wasn’t hurt or sick.
“He didn’t seem unwell when he was surfing in like a pro!”
