According to tweet by participants in the recent White House Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Summit, Vice President Joe Biden spoke about violent extremism carried out “in the name of the Bible.” (VIDEO: Laura Ingraham: Obama Bashes Christianity Out Of ‘Malicious Ignorance’)

The tweet was sent out by the Muslim Public Affairs Council, which also tweeted that they pushed the White House to say so.
"We wanted them (WH) to include other type of violent extremists. Now they have, lets keep asking and push." –@HarisTarin #OpenCVESummit

The line is evocative of President Barack Obama’s line during the National Prayer Breakfast that while ISIS is horrible, terrible deeds have been committed “in the name of Christ.” Obama received some mockery from right-wing pundits for harking back to the Crusades to find an example of such Christian violence. It’s worth noting that despite its invitation to the White House summit, the Muslim Public Affairs Council has its own questionable history. Its president Salam Al-Marayati demanded in 2001 that Israel be considered a suspect for the 9/11 attacks: “I think we should put the state of Israel on the suspect list because I think this diverts attention from what’s happening in the Palestinian territories so that they can go on with their aggression and occupation and apartheid policies.”
