Karl Lagerfeld said living in Paris is “a nightmare” now.

The 82-year-old fashion icon — who is the head designer for the fashion house Chanel — said the streets in the city he’s lived in since the 1950s just aren’t the same. (RELATED: Geraldo Rivera ‘Thanks God’ After His Daughter Is Found Safe After Paris Terrorist Attack)
“This is not the most glamorous moment in Paris,” Lagerfeld said during an interview with CNN Style this week. “Paris by night is a nightmare now. It is not a cliché anymore.”
“I must say, in my whole life I never saw Paris that gloomy. Paris has to make an effort to become Paris again.”

Lagerfeld said the city is a far cry from what it used to be when it “looked like an old French movie.”
“It was another world,” he said. “There was no feeling of danger, and not even a boy of 16 years old could walk in the street. Last November, a terrorist attack on the city left 130 people dead.
