President Donald Trump tweeted Sunday that recent incorrect reporting is a “stain on America!”
Trump claimed in his tweet that the stories have been incorrect on purpose.
“Very little discussion of all the purposely false and defamatory stories put out this week by the Fake News Media. They are out of control – correct reporting means nothing to them,” Trump wrote. “Major lies written, then forced to be withdrawn after they are exposed…a stain on America!”
There has been a litany of high profile mistakes from large media outlets in the past two weeks.
Bloomberg had to correct a report that said special counsel Robert Mueller issued a subpoena for bank records related to President Trump and his family. The corrected report said that the bank records were of people “affiliated” with Trump.
CNN had to correct a Friday report that claimed Donald Trump Jr. received advanced access to WikiLeaks emails. However, Trump Jr. had actually been notified of the emails a day after they were publicly released. (RELATED: CNN Botches Major ‘Bombshell’ Alleging Contacts Between Don Jr. And WikiLeaks)
And the week prior, ABC reporter Brian Ross was suspended after he falsely reported that former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn will tell authorities Trump directed Flynn to contact Russian officials during the campaign.
Trump also honed Saturday on a misleading photo from a Washington Post reporter claiming that Trump had a small crowd at his Friday rally in Florida. (RELATED: E-mails reveal Post reporter savaging conservatives, rooting for Democrats)
.@DaveWeigel @WashingtonPost put out a phony photo of an empty arena hours before I arrived @ the venue, w/ thousands of people outside, on their way in. Real photos now shown as I spoke. Packed house, many people unable to get in. Demand apology & retraction from FAKE NEWS WaPo! pic.twitter.com/XAblFGh1ob

.@daveweigel of the Washington Post just admitted that his picture was a FAKE (fraud?) showing an almost empty arena last night for my speech in Pensacola when, in fact, he knew the arena was packed (as shown also on T.V.). FAKE NEWS, he should be fired.
