Blake Griffin released a statement Tuesday morning with his reaction to being traded from the Clippers to the Pistons, and I’m not sure I’m buying it.

Griffin wrote the following on Twitter:

Needed a night to digest and reflect on what happened. From being a #1 pick, to Lob City, to six straight playoff appearances, I am so proud to have been part of the success of the Clippers organization. LA has been my home since I started in the league and I will be forever grateful to the city for embracing me and supporting me. To the fans, you have been awesome every step of the way. Thank you for your years of support. Now I’m ready for the next chapter, getting to work and helping the Detroit Pistons make a run in the Eastern Conference.

I’m sure Griffin is sincere with his message about the fans and his old team, but I find it hard to believe that anybody is happy about leaving Los Angeles for Detroit. I said the same thing last night when the news broke and I don’t think anything has changed.

What does a millionaire even do for fun in the winters while living in Detroit? The only upside I see for Griffin is that real estate prices are insanely low in Detroit. You can buy a palace for around a million dollars. You definitely can’t do that in Los Angeles. Outside of that there is no plausible upside that jumps off the page to me.

I understand that Griffin has to appear to be happy and excited about his new team, but those of us who are woke aren’t buying it at all. Also, I have to imagine that the women in Detroit don’t really compare at all to the women in Los Angeles. I’ve been to both places, and if memory serves me correctly, it’s not even close. I feel so bad for Blake Griffin. Like I already said, he should just retire and keep kicking it in LA.
