Part of what makes America the greatest country on earth is how we honor our men and women in uniform. And while every person who has served our country with bravery and dignity deserves recognition, there are some who go above and beyond the call of duty. Only a select few in a generation are awarded the highest honor of the United States military.

Only 3,517 people have ever received the Medal Of Honor since our country’s founding. Many of them have been honored posthumously.
