MSNBC contributor Mike Lupica accused the U.S. of committing human rights violations at the border by separating families on “MSNBC Live” With Stephanie Ruhle Monday morning.

WATCH:

“We point our fingers at human rights violators all over the world,” Lupica stated. “Guess what? We’ve met the human rights violators at the border and they are us right now. I am tired of hearing people say this isn’t who we are as a country.”

He continued, “Well, anybody who lets this continue, then it becomes exactly who we are.”

Lupica retweeted Sen. Chris Murphy condemning Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen’s statements on the policy on Sunday.

The issue of separating families who are trying to enter the country illegally at the border has been a hot topic in the media over the past week.

President Trump has placed blame for the current insufficient policy on Democrats, while they have been quick to point fingers at the Trump administration. (RELATED: SARAH SANDERS SLAMS WHINY REPORTER ON FAMILIES SEPARATED AT BORDER)
