Athletes in different sports have come out in support of Nike’s decision to feature former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick as the face of their new ad campaign that was released on Monday.

The new ad has already made waves in both directions. Pro athletes such as NBA star Kyle Kuzma and NFL players Malcolm Jenkins and Kenny Stills are among many athletes who have praised the company, while others are calling for a Nike boycott.

Kaepernick began kneeling during the national anthem back in 2016 trying to raise awareness against police brutality and social injustice. His kneeling created a national outcry with the president eventually getting involved.

The NFL has reviewed and altered their policy to try and end the problem. Players are now required to stand during the anthem or remain in the locker room during the anthem. It’s unclear if the changes will change what’s going on.
