Missouri football coach Barry Odom is reportedly in the mix to lead Louisville’s program.
The Cardinals have been searching for a new coach ever since they canned Bobby Petrino. There had been reports Purdue’s Jeff Brohm was a lock.
The Columbia Tribune wrote the following:
A report Sunday from a Louisville beat writer indicated there is mutual interest between Louisville and Missouri coach Barry Odom for the Cardinals’ open football head coaching position.
Jody Demling of Cardinal Authority, a site in the 247Sports network, reported Sunday that “three different sources” have confirmed mutual interest between Odom and the Cardinals.

Odom and Missouri agreed to a two-year contract extension in December 2017. The extension, which keeps Odom under contract until 2023, did not come with a raise.
This would make absolutely no sense in my eyes. This might be just a play where Odom is trying to get a raise, a few more years tacked onto his contract or something of that manner. Leaving Missouri for Louisville just doesn’t seem smart at all for somebody’s career. Why would anybody want to do that? (RELATED: The Latest AP College Football Poll Has Arrived. It’s not like he’d be leaving for Clemson, Florida State or even the likes of Miami. He’d be going to Louisville.

Also, why would Louisville even want to hire Odom if it can get Brohm? He’s a much better coach. Look at what he’s done with the Boilermakers and then look at what Odom has down at Missouri. Clearly, Brohm has the better resume.
Plus, he actually played at Louisville. It seems like the perfect fit.
