President Donald Trump said his predecessor, President Obama, had the same policy of separating migrant families, as the immigration issue again flares up at the southern border.
Trump was asked by reporters about the crisis on the southern border as he departed the White House Monday afternoon. Trump said he was comfortable with border agents tear gassing migrants at the border. “They were being rushed by some very tough people,” Trump said of the group that rushed the border Sunday, throwing rocks at border guards. “Nobody’s coming into our country unless they come in legally.”
Trump was asked immediately after about the policy of illegal immigrant child separation that he ended recently. The policy of family separation caused a major media firestorm for the Trump administration earlier this year.

“I’ll tell you what,” Trump said, “Obama had a separation policy. We all had the same policy. I tried to do it differently, but Obama had a separation policy, but people don’t like to talk about that.”

When asked a similar question earlier in the fall, Trump said, “President Obama separated the children from the parents and nobody complained. When we continued the exact same law, this country went crazy. So we are going to continue and try to continue what we’re doing.”
