USC legend Matt Barkley is sticking around in the NFL for at least a little bit longer.

According to Ian Rapoport, Matt Barkley signed a two-year extension Friday with the Buffalo Bills. Details of the deal haven’t been disclosed yet. Barkley signed with the struggling team at the end of October in an attempt to help provide depth at quarterback.

What a wild ride it’s been for Barkley these past few years. He was a stud for the Trojans in college, but his NFL career never materialized the way people expected.

In fact, it looked like he was likely never going to play again before the Bills came calling. Now, he somehow convinced the team to sign him to a nice extension. (RELATED: Here Are The Best Moments From Week 15 Of The NFL Season)

Given how bad his time in the NFL has gone so far, I think that’s a hell of a great deal for Barkley.

I really don’t understand how Barkley simply hasn’t been better in the NFL. He balled out at USC, and looked awesome. Then, he goes to the NFL, bounces around a bunch of different teams and has thrown a grand total of two touchdowns since entering the league several years ago.

Again, it’s safe to say things didn’t go according to plan at all.

Well, he’s about to get a decent amount of NFL money sent his away. Given what I know about football, he should save as much of it as he can because his days of cashing checks as an NFL quarterback will be over sooner than later.
