CBS News anchor Norah O’Donnell is getting a pay raise, but it won’t be as much as Gayle King’s.
O’Donnell was named the new host of “CBS Evening News” on Monday, according to a report published by Page Six. The morning anchor had reportedly been working for the coveted spot since before Jeff Glor took over in 2017.

Although O’Donnell is moving to a spot she wanted and with different benefits, she didn’t manage to negotiate as large a salary as King did. King is staying on “CBS This Morning” and reportedly making $11 million per year.
O’Donnell moved to “CBS Evening News” and received a promotion at “60 Minutes” but is only reportedly making $7-to-$8 million per year. (RELATED: Gayle King Reportedly Set To Replace Norah O’Donnell On ‘CBS This Morning’)
As previously reported, King supposedly asked to have O’Donnell moved off of “CBS This Morning” as part of her negotiations for her new contract.

“Norah is toxic,” an insider told Page Six. It was reported that O’Donnell fueled rumors about Glor while simultaneously trying to take his spot on “CBS Evening News.” The tension between the morning hosts allegedly got so bad that it prompted King to ask to have O’Donnell removed.
President of CBS News Susan Zirinsky denied there was any tension between the two anchors saying, “This headline is offensive and 100% false.”
