The Carolina Panthers will take a strong look at Baylor head coach Matt Rhule to take over the team.

According to David Newton, the Panthers will interview the Baylor head coach for the position left vacant after the firing of Ron Rivera. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

What Rhule has done at Baylor is nothing short of incredible. He inherited a mess of a team. The Bears where a joke when he showed up.

In only a matter of a couple years, he turned them into a power in the Big 12. There’s no question at all that the man can coach.

Now, does that necessarily guarantee success at the pro level? I’d say no, but you never know for sure.

What I do know for sure is that Rhule is the king down in Waco. He can stay there for as long as he’d like. They’re never firing him.

The NFL is a dog eat dog world. You string a couple bad seasons together, and you’ll be looking for a new job before you know it.

I’m sure the Panthers will pay a lot more than what Rhule is getting at Baylor, but that doesn’t mean he should jump ship for a quick chunk of cash.

He’s in a great position right now, and that can’t be overstated. We’ll see what he does, but I’d bet he doesn’t end up being the next coach of the Panthers.
