A recent poll from Darren Rovell about the Super Bowl had some pretty interesting results.
Rovell asked his followers if their team was in the Super Bowl for the first time in at least 25 years if they’d prefer watching the game in person or on a high quality TV. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)
Only 60% voted for actually attending the game in person.

This is a big problem facing the NFL and college football. TV ratings are going through the roof but attendance is on the decline for a ton of different teams.
Why is that? Well, it’s actually incredibly simple. The viewing experience on TV has never been better. Add in the fact it’s cheaper, more convenient, and you can watch a bunch of stuff at once and you’ve found your answer.
I’m all for going to the games. Nothing gets me going like attending a Wisconsin Badgers game in Camp Randall, especially under the lights.

I’m also a fanatic, so it’s a shade different. At the same time, I love firing up multiple TVs, cooking up some wings, grabbing a few beers and flipping between games.
When all the food and alcohol is added up, I can get that experience for less than $20. Even if I go to a bar, I can do all of that for under $60.
Good luck getting multiple tickets, food, parking and drinks at any sporting event for less than several hundred dollars.
It makes sense for a lot of people to choose TV or attending in person. It doesn’t mean the NFL is failing. It just means the TV experience is as good as it’s ever been.
