St. Louis Blues defenseman Jay Bouwmeester underwent successful surgery after a scary incident earlier in February.
Bouwmeester collapsed on the bench during a game against the Anaheim Ducks because of a “cardiac” issue. You can watch a video of the terrifying moment below. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

According to TMZ, Blues general manager Doug Armstrong announced Friday that the veteran defenseman had an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) put in his chest during surgery.
It’s not known at this time if Bouwmeester will ever play again.

At this point, Bouwmeester should seriously consider hanging up his skates. It’s just not worth it at this point.
He collapsed on the bench in one of the most terrifying moments I’ve ever seen sports. At some point, you have to realize your health is much more important than continuing to play.

Let’s hope he makes a full recovery and nothing like this ever happens again. This is the kind of stuff you just hate seeing.
