Alabama Crimson Tide athletic director Greg Byrne attended a protest in Tuscaloosa over the weekend.
AJ Spurr tweeted a photo of the Crimson Tide AD at a Sunday protest with men’s basketball coach Nate Oats. Following the death of George Floyd, protests have swept across the country, and there has been widespread civil unrest at times. You can now add Byrne to the long list of sports power players who have attended protests. I can also promise you that he won’t be the last.
Jim Harbaugh, Sam Pittman and Neal Brown have also attended protests, and you can expect more and more people in the world of sports to get vocal.

The reality of the situation is that people in the world of sports have a bigger platform than most, and people respect the hell out of them.
That’s especially true when it comes to midwestern and southern states. Outside of Nick Saban, Greg Byrne is the most powerful person at the University of Alabama.
Hopefully, his presence at a peaceful protest in the aftermath of Floyd’s death helps ease the painful situation America is in.
