Man Hit With Murder Charges After Allegedly Shooting St. Louis Officer In The Head, Killing Him

The man who allegedly shot a St. Louis police officer in the head has been charged with murder after the officer died Sunday.

Thomas Kinworthy, 43, was charged with “1 count of Murder 1st, 1 count of Assault 1st LEO, 1 count of Burglary 1st, 1 count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, 1 count of Resisting Arrest & 3 counts Armed Criminal Action,” according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s Twitter account.

Officer Tamarris Bohannon died Sunday after suffering a gunshot wound to the head while responding to reports of a gunman. Kinworthy had walked into a family’s home and ordered them to leave. He later barricaded himself inside the home for roughly 12 hours, ABC 6 reported.

“It is with great sadness we share the loss of Officer Tamarris ‘T’ Bohannon, affectionately known as ‘Bo’ by his squad of St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department,” a statement by his family released by the police department said.

“He is a hero to many, but most importantly to his loving wife and three incredible children,” the statement continued. “The loss of this great man is felt deeply within the St. Louis community and we ask for your prayers and support in the days ahead.”

“I’ve had the privilege of spending some time with his family under these extraordinarily challenging circumstances,” Democratic St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson said in a statement, according to the outlet. “They’re wonderful people and immensely proud of the way he selflessly served and protected our community with distinction and honor for more than three years.”
