Virginia Tech will reportedly not play in a bowl game this season.

According to Brett McMurphy, the Hokies have chosen to not play in a bowl game this season after finishing 5-6. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

By opting out of the bowl season, Virginia Tech will snap a streak of 27 straight bowl appearances.

As I’ve said many times before, we’re going to see more and more teams follow this example in the coming days.

I think there are going to be a bunch of teams that opt out of playing bowl games during the coronavirus pandemic.

It’s been a long and chaotic season, teams are beat up and missing players and it’s simply hard to focus on a bowl game.

It becomes substantially harder if you’re also only going to make a garbage bowl, which is pretty much the situation VT was in.
