Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent snub of Coca-Cola at the Euro 2020 game press conference has cost the company $4 billion.

It all started when the 36-year-old soccer superstar took his seat in front of the media this week ahead of Portugal’s game against Hungary and spotted two bottles of Coke. With a look of disgust, he removed those bottles out of the shot of the media. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

The soccer superstar grabbed a water bottle and exclaimed “Agua;” he then appeared to say something under his breath about the soda company.

It was at that moment, the beverage company’s share price dropped by 1.6% to $55.22, ESPN reported in a piece published Wednesday. Coca-Cola’s market value also went from $242 billion to $238 billion.

Coke, which is an official sponsor of the tournament, released a statement after Ronaldo’s snub and said “everyone is entitled to their drink preferences” with different “tastes and needs.” (RELATED: Ronaldo Leaves Real Madrid For Juventus)

The Portugal captain has noted his disdain for soda in the past and his unhappiness when his son drinks Coke, BroBible noted.

“I’m hard with him sometimes because he drinks Coca-Cola and Fanta sometimes and I’m pissed with him,” Cristiano explained. “I fight with him when he eats chips and fries and everything, he knows I don’t like it.”

“Even my small kids, when they eat chocolate they always look to me and, you know, we have to be strong,” he added.

“But to be honest he has potential, he is a big boy, he’s fast and he’s driven well,” the European player continued. “But this nothing, I tell him every time, it takes a lot of dedication, a lot of hard work.”
