Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett doesn’t think it’s his job to carry the hopes of fans on his shoulders.

Well, that means the team’s starting quarterback will likely have to play lights out, but he’s trying to not let the pressure get to him.
Alabama and Georgia will meet in the national title game, and Saban is already saying the Crimson Tide are huge underdogs.

Bennett said the following when talking about the title game against Alabama, according to ESPN:
Maybe I’m not capable of holding that weight on my shoulders, but no, I’m just treating it as a football game. Do I know that means a lot to a lot of people? Yes. Am I trying to play some kind of savior by winning a national championship for millions of people? No. I don’t think that’s my job. My job is to go out there and throw completions to very talented people we have on this team. And I think it’s as simple as that.
These are some bizarre comments from Bennett. Whether he likes it or not, the state of Georgia is riding with him.
The hopes and dreams of fans are firmly planted on his shoulder whether he likes it or not. Welcome to life as a starting quarterback in major college football.
If you can’t handle it, take a seat on the bench and let JT Daniels take over. Whatever you do, don’t claim it’s not your job to carry that burden because it’s 100% your burden.
That’s what being a starting quarterback in a national title game is all about.
