Roscosmos space agency head Dmitry Rogozin admitted Saturday that Russia is researching reports of unidentified flying objects (UFOs).
Rogozin told news outlet Rossiya-24 that 99.9% of UFO sighting reports were subsequently determined to be “atmospheric and other physical phenomena,” according to Newsweek. He further noted that “we might be a subject to some external observation,” the outlet reported.
His comments came after pilots reported seeing UFOs, predominantly during test flights, according to Newsweek. “We can study bacteria, but we can also be studied just like bacteria,” Rogozin reportedly continued. (RELATED: Multiple Military Witnesses Describe Encounter With UFO)

“If we talk about specific facts of the so-called UFO [sightings], which might have taken place on Earth throughout the history of mankind, which NASA speaks about, I would like to say that these studies have been conducted and are being conducted by our Russian Academy of Sciences among others. The facts are collected and checked,” Rogozin said, the outlet continued, noting his words were potentially translated to English from his native Russian.
Roscosmos has reportedly previously been in touch with NASA about UFO reports. NASA announced June 9 that the agency is commissioning a study team to start examining UFOs or “unidentified aerial phenomena” (UAPs). That announcement came after the Pentagon admitted during congressional hearings in May that they had at least 11 near-collisions with UAPs.
