13-Year-Old Girl Charged In Fatal Beating Of NYC Taxi Driver Kutin Gyimah

Police arrested a 13-year-old girl in connection with the fatal Aug. 13 beating of  New York taxi driver Kutin Gyimah in Queens.

The teenager, the fourth of five suspects arrested in relation to this attack, has been charged with gang assault and theft of services, according to The New York Post . Police are still searching for one other young female suspect that is believed to have been involved in the beating that took the life of the 52-year old victim, according to The New York Post.

Gyimah was driving the group of five assailants when they exited his taxi without paying their fare in the Rockaways. As he chased them down the street in an effort to retrieve payment for his services, they swarmed him and began assaulting him, according to The New York Post.

Surveillance footage from a nearby bodega shows the teenagers punching and kicking Gyimah. The outnumbered taxi driver defended himself as the assailants took turns attacking him and was on his feet at the end of the video. At that point, a male suspect hit a him hard and knocked Gyimah backward onto the sidewalk. The taxi driver suffered a fatal head injury, according to Pix11 News.

20-year-old Austin Amos allegedly delivered the fatal blow that caused Gyimah to fall and fatally hit his head. Police have arrested Amos and charged him with manslaughter, according to the New York Post. The New York Police Department also reported that 20-year-old Nickolas Porter and an unidentified 16-year-old female have been charged with robbery and assault. Gyimah is survived by his widow Abigail Barwuah, and his four young children. Barwuah wants all suspects involved in this case to be held accountable for this crime. “Even if they are not caught by man, God is going to bring them in,” Barwuah said,” according to Pix11 News.

The New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers has offered a $15,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, according to Pix11 News.

A GoFundMe for Gyimah has been in place to help his family, and has raised over $200,000 since Aug. 13.
