Alec Baldwin is restarting filming of his film “Rust” after settling with Halyna Hutchins’ widower on Wednesday.
Hutchins, a cinematographer, was shot and killed when a prop handgun discharged while Baldwin was holding it in October 2021. Hutchins’ family sued the actor, and the parties have settled this week, according to Deadline. Part of the deal included Hutchins’ husband, Matthew Hutchins, coming on as an executive producer, Deadline noted.
“We have reached a settlement, subject to court approval, for our wrongful death case against the producers of ‘Rust,’ including Alec Baldwin and Rust Movie Productions, LLC. As part of that settlement, our case will be dismissed,” Hutchins told the outlet Wednesday morning. “The filming of ‘Rust,’ which I will now executive produce, will resume with all the original principal players on board in January 2023.”

Filming will resume in January 2023 with all of the original cast members, the outlet continued. Baldwin shared the news on his social media, writing in the caption of an Instagram post that “we are pleased to announce today the settlement of the civil case filed on behalf of the family of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Throughout this difficult process, everyone has maintained the specific desire to do what is best for Halyna’s son. Attorneys for Rust Movie Productions LLC said they are thrilled to have settled with Hutchins, and ecstatic to complete their production, according to TMZ. Despite the news on the production returning, a criminal investigation is still ongoing.
