The finale for HBO’s “House of the Dragon” leaked online on Friday, leading the company to fault an overseas distributing partner.
The first season’s finale was allegedly posted online by distributors in Europe, the Middle East, or Africa, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The scheduled release is intended for Sunday on HBO, yet was made available illegally online.
“We are aware that the tenth episode of House of the Dragon has been posted on illegal torrent sites. It appears to have originated from a distribution partner in the EMEA region,” an HBO spokesperson wrote in a statement to Variety.

The HBO spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter that the company is upset by the situation and disappointed that the leaked version has “disrupted the viewing experience for loyal fans of the show,” given the finalized version that will be released on the platform on Sunday. The HBO spokesperson added that the company is taking down copies of the season’s finale and are monitoring the situation. “HBO is aggressively monitoring and pulling these copies from the Internet,” the spokesperson told Variety.
“House of the Dragon” is the prequel series to “Game of Thrones,” which also experienced leaks in its later seasons, according to Variety.
