Superstar filmmaker Quentin Tarantino regrets not having confronted Harvey Weinstein about his behavior towards women but claims he was unaware of the severity of his actions.

Tarantino sat down with CNN’s Chris Wallace and said that despite working closely with Weinstein for several years, he didn’t fully comprehend the depths of his predatory behaviors.

“You made most of your movies with Harvey Weinstein … Why didn’t you do more to try to stop him?” Wallace asked Tarantino during their interview.

“I’d never heard the stories that later came out at all,” Tarantino said. He later admitted there was one thing he wishes he would have done. “Look, I feel bad about it now, but what I feel bad about, is I feel bad that I did not have a man-to-man talk with him about it,” Tarantino said.

Tarantino admitted he had heard rumblings about Weinstein’s behavior but claimed he was unaware of the extent of the actions.

“I heard the same stories that everybody had heard. You know frankly to tell you the truth, I chalked it up to a ‘Madmen’ era version of the boss chasing the secretary around the desk,” Tarantino said.

He then made it clear that he felt that that was inappropriate in itself. “I’m not saying that’s ok. There was never any talk of rape or anything like that,” Tarantino said.

The famous filmmaker admitted he had a difficult time wrapping his mind around Weinstein’s behavior. Wallace asked him why he didn’t talk to him about it. “The reason I didn’t was because that’s a real hard conversation to have because I felt it was pathetic. I didn’t want to deal with his patheticness,” Tarantino said. (RELATED: Woman Alleges Harvey Weinstein Masturbated On Her Breasts In A Forced Encounter)

“Did you think it was casting couch type stuff?” Wallace asked. Tarantino then went into detail about his perception of the situation.

“I didn’t think it was hey you do this for me you’re not gonna get this movie, I never heard any actresses say anything like that,” he said. However, he did admit he had at least a vague idea that women weren’t comfortable around Weinstein. “It was … don’t get in the back of a limo with him,” Tarantino said.

“It was easy to compartmentalize it to some degree,” Tarantino admitted. He then went on to say his main regret was not having a man-to-man with Weinstein about it.
