Police said they cut a hole into the frozen pond on Monday and sent divers to search the water after an unsuccessful land search using K-9 units, drones, and search parties, WILX reported. Divers found Payan’s body at about 12:30 p.m., and police concluded he probably died before being reported missing.
This is a sad update. Doctor Payan has been found deceased. This makes zero sense to me. 😔 #bolekpayan pic.twitter.com/JBi5Rcwsyq

Friends and relatives who traveled to Jackson County to spend the holidays with Payan, called his disappearance out-of-character, the outlet reported.
“Bolek dropped his dogs at 8 a.m.,” Nicole Keiser told WILX. “He told us that he was going to pick them up at 6:30, he already fed them, and that he’ll feed them again when he picks them up at 6:30 that night. So for his truck to be here without coming to the house to pick up the dogs that would be out of character. Something happened and I don’t know what.”
Authorities did not say how Payan ended up in the water.
