The body of a 13-year-old girl washed up on the shore of Brooklyn Bridge Park in New York City on Monday.

The child was close to the Fulton Ferry Landing Pier in the Brooklyn Heights neighborhood shortly before 8:30 a.m. on Monday, according to Metro. Despite no obvious signs of trauma on the girl’s body, she was unconscious and unresponsive when first responders arrived.

Her body was found on the rocks off Pier 1, just north of one of the famed Brooklyn Bridge towers. She was pronounced dead at the scene, Metro noted.

At this time, no criminal activity is expected in the girls’ death, but a medical examiner still has to certify her official cause of death. The girl’s identity was not released to the public, pending family notification of her death.

Police sources told the New York Daily News that a teenager suffering from bipolar disorder went missing on Sunday night, but its unclear whether the child found on the beach is the same individual.
