Model Jeremy Ruehlemann’s father shed light on what he believes to be the cause of death for his 27-year-old son, who died Saturday.

Ruehlemann likely died from an “accidental drug overdose,” according to his 59-year-old father, Achim Ruehlemann, who spoke to Daily Mail on Tuesday. The senior Ruehlemann said his son struggled with an addiction to prescription drugs, specifically Percocet, Daily Mail reported.

The model had allegedly gone to rehab for his purported addiction in the past. “He did rehab and had tried to get off prescription medication,” Achim told Daily Mail. “Obviously, he was not successful.”

Achim noted the family is awaiting the results of a toxicology test to confirm his belief, but said he is sure Ruehlemann’s passing was an accident, according to the outlet.

“There was no desire to end his life, this was accidental,” Achim continued, Daily Mail reported. “Obviously, he had some issues with drug addiction, but he was very happy. He loved life. He was very vibrant, a wonderful soul and a very giving guy.”

The rising star model was discovered unconscious in the bathroom of a friend’s Manhattan home Saturday morning, the outlet reported. He was pronounced dead at the scene. (RELATED: Firefighters In Phoenix Say They’re Running Out Of Narcan For Overdose, Poisoning Calls)

His father also emphasized the tributes that poured out for Ruehlemann after his death was announced. “I don’t know if there’s anybody who could say anything negative about him. It’s just a tragedy,” Achim said, according to Daily Mail.
