A Georgia murder suspect who was mistakenly released from prison turned himself in Tuesday, according to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.

Kaiser Ulrick Suggs turned himself in after Clayton County Sheriff Levon Allen placed him on a most wanted list and activated a fugitive squad to arrest him, according to a Clayton County Sheriff’s office press release posted Tuesday evening.

Suggs was released from the Clayton County Jail in November 2022 after assault charges against him were dismissed. Due to his status as a murder suspect in Fulton County, he should have instead been returned to the Fulton County Jail, according to a statement from Clayton County Sheriff Levon Allen posted Tuesday afternoon.

Allen said that he placed two employees responsible for the mistaken release of Suggs on “administrative leave,” the statement continued. An internal affairs investigation into the release of Suggs is currently underway.

Suggs made the decision to turn himself in after hearing statements about his mistaken release, he reportedly posted his intention to do so on social media, according to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office. (RELATED: Plane Makes Emergency Landing On Interstate, Closing Lanes During Rush Hour)
