A vanity license plate reading “P7” sold for a world record $15 million at a charity auction in Dubai in April at the Four Seasons Hotel Jumeirah, CNN reported.

“1 Billion Meals” — a campaign organized by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai and Prime Minister of the UAE — will receive the proceeds from the auction that kicked off on April 4 and concluded on April 10, WAM reported. “1 Billion Meals” helps vulnerable communities around the world struggling with food security during Ramadan. “1 Billion Meals” also provides aid for vulnerable groups, including victims of crises and natural disasters. “The UAE’s leadership continues to launch sustainable and innovative initiatives that help improve the lives of millions of people around the world, and the 1 Billion Meals Endowment campaign is a perfect example of this as it aims to provide a food safety net serving the world’s most underprivileged communities,” Major General Khalifa Muhammad Al Khaili, Director of the Finance and Services Sector at Abu Dhabi Police, told WAM.

“The impressive outcome of the Most Noble Numbers charity auction reflects the values of giving and generosity deeply rooted in the UAE community, whose members rush to the aid of those in need everywhere,” he added.

Other license plates at that same auction sold for the equivalent of $800,000 and $38,000, CNN reported. The auction raised more than $19.3 million for “One Billion Meals,” WAM reported.

At an auction organized by the same company, Saeed Abdul Ghaffar Khouri purchased the another vanity plate for 52.2 million dirhams, or the equivalent of $14.2 million, in February 2008, CNN reported. That sale was the previous record.
