“America’s Got Talent” winner Michael Grimm was put on a ventilator and heavily sedated by doctors after suffering from an unidentified mystery illness.

The singer’s wife, Lucie Zolcerva-Grimm, posted an emotional video to Instagram on Tuesday, asking for fans to be patient as she provided details about his current medical crisis. “It’s been an emotional ride,” she said. “I know you all love Michael, and while I want to protect his privacy at his request to not disclose anything, we’re kind of in a situation.”

She went on to say, “Whatever was going on in his body, from whatever, toxins I guess, they were going to his brain. He started talking gibberish, all of a sudden, physical tremors were setting in, his blood pressure skyrocketed.”

“They had to put him in ICU. So Michael has been in ICU all week,” Zolcerva-Grimm said to her husband’s fans.

Grimm’s wife went on to explain the series of events that transpired before he was admitted to the hospital.

“For those of you that went to see Michael in the last couple of months, you may have noticed he was struggling with his health a lot, lacking energy and not being able to fulfill shows.”

She said they sought medical assistance but doctors were unsure what was ailing the young singer.

“On Memorial Day, it kind of took him over,” she said. “He was looking increasingly sickly, all of a sudden he could barely walk, couldn’t lift his head, couldn’t respond to me when I asked him things, he was really fuzzy.”

“For the safety of his health they had to put him on a ventilator and sedate him pretty heavily so that he wouldn’t stroke out,” she said.

Zolcerva-Grimm then told fans that Michael was making progress and said his ventilator had been removed Tuesday morning.

She explained that his medical issue remains a mystery to doctors, and praised his medical team for working hard to help the star. (RELATED: Al Roker Provides Health Update After Undergoing Surgery)

She told fans it would be some time before Grimm could return to the stage, and apologized for having to cancel his June and early July engagements. She cautioned that his road to recovery would be a long one.

Grimm currently has no voice and will have to undergo vocal chord repair as a result of being on the ventilator.
