A man flying into the Minneapolis airport Sunday night used an emergency exit hatch to jump from the plane and onto the tarmac after learning that authorities were standing by to arrest him on drug charges, officials say.

Jeremiah Raymond Hoskins, 44, was aboard Sun Country Airlines Flight 346 from Orlando when he learned that police officers were waiting in the terminal at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport to arrest him, KSTP News reported. When the flight arrived at the gate at approximately 11:15 p.m., Hoskins made his way to an emergency exit row, opened the emergency hatch and jumped from the plane onto the tarmac, according to the outlet.

Law enforcement officials from the Minneapolis-St. Paul Police Department, the Minnesota State Patrol, the Bloomington Police Department and the Metro Transit Police Department searched the area for Hoskins. Officials found him approximately half an hour later, hiding inside a food service truck. (RELATED: Man Detained After Jumping Out Of Plane, Walking On Wing)

Hoskins was arrested on suspicion of trespassing and violating a restraining order, KSTP reported, citing the Airport Police Department data report. Hoskins also has outstanding warrants for his arrest in Wright County where he was previously arrested on third-degree controlled substance charges in September 2022, according to the New York Post.

Sun Country announced that no passengers or crew were injured as a result of Hoskins actions but stressed that they take “these incidents very seriously,” the New York Post reported. The airline also noted that when Hoskins left the plane, the airplane crew called the airport police who quickly responded.
