Mayor Trent Staggs of Riverton, Utah, who is running against incumbent Sen. Mitt Romney in the state’s 2024 Republican primary, took to Twitter on Thursday to challenge the freshman senator to a debate.

Staggs urged Romney to “defend your support for raising the debt ceiling, voting in [Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro] Mayorkas and [Supreme Court Judge Ketanji] Brown Jackson, and many other bad votes.”

“I’ll explain why Americans DO deserve America First policies and a small federal government. You in?” Staggs added.

“Mitt’s voting record has been a disaster for Utah. From his support for a Supreme Court Justice that doesn’t know what a woman is to supporting Mayorkas. He’s voted for trillions in new spending after promising to reign it in,” Staggs told the Daily Caller in an exclusive statement. “I’m calling on him to articulate why. Why did he work so hard to get Joe Biden elected, and does he feel responsible for the calamity that has caused? I’m running for Senate because Utah deserves a conservative, someone who cares more about his constituents than positive coverage on CNN.”

Mayorkas is famous for helping Vice President Kamala Harris enable the largest human trafficking crisis in history over America’s southern border with Mexico. And Jackson is best known for being a biological woman who doesn’t know what a biological woman is. (RELATED: Mitt Romney Spends Way Too Long  Telling America How Much He Loves Weiners)

It’s unclear why Romney has held such support for both individuals, so a debate is probably the best way for future voters to find out. Let’s hope it happens!
