Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi described the indictments of former President Donald Trump as “exquisite”, “beautiful” and “intricate” and said the charges have a better chance of conviction than anything she could have “come up with.”
In Pelosi’s latest interview, released Monday morning with New York Magazine, the California Democrat called the former president’s arraignment as a “triumph for the truth.” On Thursday, Trump pleaded not guilty in Washington D.C. after he was indicted for a third time over his conduct regarding the 2020 election.
Trump was charged Tuesday with “Conspiracy to defraud the United States,” “Conspiracy to corruptly obstruct and impede the January 6 proceedings” and “A conspiracy against the right to vote and to have one’s vote counted.” He appeared Thursday afternoon at the E. Barrett Prettyman Federal Courthouse before Magistrate Judge Moxila A. Upadhyaya.
“As we always say, it all depends on what happens at the end of the day, but you have to determine what the end of the day is. Yesterday was the end of a day. Pelosi was then asked what would happen if Trump were to win the 2024 Presidential election, to which she compared to the “world being on fire.”
“Don’t even think of that,” Pelosi said. “Don’t think of the world being on fire. It cannot happen, or we will not be the United States of America.”
“If he were to be president,” she added, “it would be a criminal enterprise in the White House.”
