The worst thing imaginable happened to the New York Jets.
On their very first offensive possession of ‘Monday Night Football’ (and the 2023 season), quarterback Aaron Rodgers was sacked by Buffalo Bills edge rusher Leonard Floyd, with Rodgers unable to get back up completely as he stayed on the ground. Rodgers was immediately attended to by medical staff and then eventually helped off the field, exiting the game.
It’s not exactly clear the type of injury Rodgers suffered nor the nature of it, however, it appeared to be the Super Bowl XLV champion’s lower leg with the team expecting it to be a season-ending torn Achilles, though nothing is official as of yet. Earlier this summer in training camp, Rodgers was dealing with a calf injury.

Literally the only information that we have right now is the fact that Aaron Rodgers was out for the rest of ‘Monday Night Football,’ he has an MRI scheduled for Tuesday, Jets head coach Robert Saleh is saying that “it’s not good” and that he was in a boot, according to ESPN’s MNF broadcast. That’s all we know for 100% certain right now.
But didn’t I call this?
My prediction might not be on the level of this guy’s (this is pretty impressive)…
Aaron Rodgers is going to tear his Achilles on a rain drenched MetLife turf in 2.5 hours

…but I certainly told you, and several times, that the New York Jets’ season would be disastrous.
Now obviously I’m not gloating about Aaron Rodgers getting injured, that’s not my point here, and yeah, he could just miss one game and be right back for the next one like a badly-aged argument against me when this news first developed … but I’m highly doubting that considering this:
Aaron Rodgers may have broken his ankle. I hope I’m wrong. The way that his foot was coming down with all the weight of the defender appears to be pretty bad. pic.twitter.com/L0mTI9oROK

And definitely this:
𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦: #Jets star QB Aaron Rodgers is expected to have suffered a ruptured Achilles and will miss the entire 2023 season, per HC Robert Saleh
Just an unimaginable blow to the Jets Super Bowl hopes this season.

But what have I been saying since the Jets got this whole thing together with Aaron Rodgers?
That they were going to be dysfunctional, per usual. First damn possession of the game for New York and QB8 goes down, just like that. Leaves the game, just like that. Misery rains down along with literal rain on Jets fans (again), just like that. It’s the same story every year for this franchise. And no, I don’t want to hear about that fluke Bills win, watch how the rest of the season goes WITHOUT Aaron Rodgers, because I’m telling you that’s coming.
Don’t get it twisted, the dysfunction was going to show itself whether or not Rodgers got injured. But, of course, it does in the very first week with their horrendous field management. @DaddyZaslav is right, that joke of an organization can never maintain MetLife appropriately. And that’s what I mean…
Dysfunction, dysfunction, dysfunction — I friggin’ told you! They got Aaron Rodgers injured!
And even if Aaron does come back (which he won’t), watch the New York Jets still be trash. Personally, I’m hoping he does make a return. I want my Miami Dolphins to beat the hell out of them with NO excuses. (RELATED: Former Teammate Kyle Rudolph Reveals How Tom Brady Acted Behind The Scenes)
Here’s to a speedy recovery for Aaron, because quite frankly, I want ALL the SMOKE!
But I told you … I told you … I was right yet again. The Jets just can’t help themselves.
