The “PAW Patrol” spinoff series, “Rubble & Crew,” added a nonbinary character to an episode that aired August 22 in the United States.
The episode, “The Crew Builds an Observatory,” features River, a nonbinary character who LGBT activist Lindz Amer helped create.
“The pups jump into action to build an observatory to help their friend River get a cool picture of a shooting star,” IMDB describes the episode. (RELATED: Comic Book Features First Transgender Character)
Lindz Amer, who describes herself as the “Queer Mister Rogers,” was reportedly hired as a writer for the episode that added the nonbinary character.
“It’s officially out in the world and that means I can talk about it!! I got to write an episode of Rubble & Crew (the construction spin off series from the Paw Patrol franchise),” Amer wrote in an Instagram post.

“They brought me on to consult on the first nonbinary character—meet River!!—for the PP universe and write their episode, talk about a bucket list item.”
River rides a skateboard in the episode and wears socks and shoes that are the colors of the transgender flag.
“I wanted to write a nonbinary character that was aspirational and incredibly cool, someone for the pups (and kids at home) to look up to. They found an awesome non-binary actor to voice River and I’m so so happy about how it turned out,” Amer wrote. “Swipe to peep River’s 🏳️⚧️ kicks! 👟.”
Amer wrote a book in May 2023 called “Rainbow Parenting: Your Guide to Raising Queer Kids and Their Allies.”
Amer also hosts “Queer Kid Stuff,” a YouTube channel where she is “engaged with young viewers, discussing love and family while tackling queer topics.”

Spin Master Entertainment, which produces Rubble and Crew, did not respond to the Daily Caller’s request for comment.
